• PROOF is Open!

I just wanted to write a quick post about PROOF!...the musical. (not really...just regular Proof.) As some may be aware this has been a total dream for me to be able to work on this show. After this opening week, and my family coming on Saturday night I, and the rest of the cast, were completely wiped. We pulled together and got through the second two show day and now are being rewarded with this, sort of gloomy weather, day off!

The biggest stuggle i"ve found is figuring out how things move and grow from show to show. The emotional tax that we pay as we tell this story is fairly demanding and sometimes you think, "If I'm not awake enough I wont be able to do it.". Or, "If I don't get the prep time I need, there's no way I can do this scene justice." But interestingly enough those shows were I am tired and fear the lack of energy, sometime end up being the best ones! It truly is a testament to living in the moment and how good it was for us to run the show as many times as we did in rehearsals. The moments are in our bodies, but listening to the other actors on stage and to my own characters needs is what continues to drive the piece.

I'm so thrilled with this play and honored to be a part of it! We are all looking forward to heading out on tour (especailly BERMUDA!) but to work on it here, in this city, with this group has been a joy. :)

We play till Feb. 5th! COME!

    :)

  • Healing and Dealing

So as some of you may know, I sprained my ankle about 2 weeks ago. I had a good week to let it heal before Ordinary Days began rehearsals, but it's still not at 100% and I can feel it. Fortunately I'm also feeling the healing. Slow and steady, but it's getting better everyday. Whew.

Despite the lame leg, this weekend was a whirl wind and I'm surprised I made it through! Rehearsals are now in full swing at the Adrienne, but with rehearsals for 11/11/11, performing in EVEN STEVEN this past Friday night, and some new dealings with squaring away my passport before heading to Bermuda with Proof this upcoming February, I've been a little frantic making time for everything! I suppose I wouldn't have it any other way, but I will say, sleep has never felt sweeter.

This upcoming Friday is the 11/11/11 event!! Come one and all because the people in this concert are siiiiiiiiiiiiiiick. Some of yours and my favorite people are lending their talents to this cause, including yours truly! So get dolled up, head to the USO Happy Hour before the show and then the amazing concert of 11 O'Clock numbers will follow! For tickets and information on all THREE events (the third being the pilot program for 11th Hours, soon to be, educational program in the morning on 11/11/11!) go to....

Then on Monday night I'll be heading back to UArts to sing a song with my good friend Ilona Ahearn in her Duets Concert in the Caplan! It's FREE and at 7pm! Ilona will also be joined by Jeff Coon, Melissa Joy Hart, Steve Pacek and Fran Prisco! Cool. Lets hang guys:)

That's all for now! And if you're not free this month for the one night events, that's cool! Come see ORDINARY DAYS starting previews on Black Friday, November 25th at the Adrienne in the Skybox:)

  • Always Preparing...

This upcoming week will be my final week of sleepy October! THANK GOODNESS! Though I have kept myself busy, preparing classes, reconnecting with old friends and celebrating theatre by going to as much of it as I can, I will be thrilled to get back in the rehearsal room! On Nov. 2nd, we will start rehearsals for 11th Hour Theatre Companies production of ORDINARY DAYS, and it couldn't come too soon!

To prepare for these rehearsals, I've been trying to familiarize myself with the lyrics and the journey that is taken in the show. Although its a style and character that I feel very at home with, I can't wait to find the challenges and face them head on with artists who I trust and respect.

In addition to that I have a few 1 night events happening in November! Including a "hipster opening mic night" act for the upcoming comedy EVEN STEVEN on their opening night, Friday Nov. 4th. Next, 11th Hour's 11.11.11. Gala, promo videos to come! And finally an appearance with Ilona Ahearn in her special cabaret of duets at UArts on Nov. 14th at 7pm! So looking forward to this busy month of prep and performance.

See you cats in the theatre...meow.
